An announcement from Big Sky Rising:
Saturday, January 19th is the date for the 2019 Gallatin & Park County Women’s March.
This year the group will gather at the intersection of Babcock and South 8th and march south on South 8th St. and end at the MSU Mall in front of Montana Hall.
Following the Gallatin & Park County Women’s March will be an educational and informative program featuring local speakers and representation from local issue based organizations. The march is not a protest, but a non-partisan event in full support of the issues that touch the lives of women in Montana everywhere. We
value the safety, security, and freedoms for our children and families to live in a quality environment.
All are welcome to gather at Babcock and S 8th at 11:45am. The March begins at 12:00pm noon and ends at 12:30 at MSU. Speakers and program begins at 1:00pm
and ends at 2:00pm.
This year’s focus celebrates the work of grassroots advocates who effectively are shining a light on issues of importance to Montanans. By taking action
on issues, advocating, communicating and providing testimony to Congressional committees, these Advocates’ efforts have garnered the full support of Montana’s
Congressional delegation resulting in pending Congressional legislation! Savannah’s Act for Missing & Indigenous Women as well as The Yellowstone
Gateway Protection Act both have the full bi-partisan support of Montana’s Congressional Delegation. More action is required to move these Acts over the finish
line, which is a motivating factor in inspiring all of us to get involved with issues that are of importance to us.
All activities will take place outside, so marchers are reminded to wear warm clothes and bring a water bottle. Attendees are encouraged to carpool or use the Streamline Bus to get to the Babcock and S. 8th St. starting point. We look forward to bringing community together in support of women in Gallatin and Park Counties, as well as other neighboring counties. All are welcome!
