Improving our community begins with understanding it. How do our local governments work? What about local taxes? Where does the money come from and where does it go? How can we act to improve our communities in the Gallatin Valley?

Join us for a panel of professionals who will address these questions.

  • Talking about local government organization and budgets: Jim Doar, Gallatin County Administrator Carson Taylor, former Bozeman Mayor
  • Providing examples of successful community involvement: Maddy Pope, Trust for Public Land Project Director, The Story Mill Community Park Heather Grenier, HRDC Chief Executive Officer/President, The Warming Center
  • The role of Citizen Advisory Boards to be addressed by all speakers

 BPW Annual Celebration of National Business Women’s Week


On the evening of October 18th, 2018 at 5:30pm at the Rialto in downtown Bozeman, Bozeman Business and Professional Women will host our annual Celebration event, “Celebrations 2018:  Women Creating Legacies.”  The evening will feature keynote speaker MSU President Dr. Waded Cruzado.

Bozeman BPW Members, friends, family, and the public are invited to attend!  

There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres, desserts, a cash bar, door prizes, opportunities to engage in networking with professional women from around the state, and a raffle to raise funds for the BPW 2019 Montana Shooting Star Business Grants, as well as the BPW 2019 Montana Women’s Educational Scholarship Fund. 

Cost to attend is $25.   Ticket sales for the event will also go to these funds in support of aspiring Montana women professionals and women students.  Tickets can be purchased online at https://bozemanbpw.org/eventlist/celebrations-2018/.

*Acording to the 2018 State of Women Owned Business Report, there are today 12.3 million women owned business firms in the United States, constituting 40% of all of the nation’s firms.  This is a large increase – up 58% – from the 7.8 million women owned businesses owned in 2007 at the beginning of the Great Recession.

As of 2018, women of color account for 47% of all women owned businesses in the United States.  Specifically, African American women owned businesses account for 20% of all women owned businesses, Latina women owned businesses account for 17%, Asian American women owned businesses account for 9%, Native American/Alaska Native women owned businesses account for 1.4%, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander women owned businesses account for .3% of all women owned businesses in the US.

From 2007 to 2018, the number of businesses owned by women of color grew overall by 163%.

National Business Women’s Week® is a great opportunity to recognize and highlight the progress women have made as business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as to share information about successful workplace policies and raise awareness of the resources available for working women that can support women of all demographics in their efforts to start and grow businesses.

 Montana Women’s Business Center and Prospera Business Network to Host Visiting Entrepreneur as Featured Guest for Leadership Mentoring Series

Lara Hodgson, President & CEO of NOW Corp to share insights from distinguished career in business to local entrepreneurs.


The Montana Women’s Business Center and Prospera Business Network will feature visiting guest, Lara Hodgson, for the Leadership Mentoring Series on Wednesday, July 25th, 2018. Lara Hodgson is CEO of NOW Corp and was recently chosen as a finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2018 Award in the Southwest Region.

Lara Hodgson will share stories and insights from her business accomplishments. Participants will join other local professionals to network with business leaders in Gallatin and Park Counties.

Lara serves as President & CEO of NOW Corp, a company she co-founded to free small businesses from the burden of funding trade credit and to enable small business growth. The concept for NOW Corp’s NOWaccount stems from the challenges Lara faced when growing her manufacturing business, Nourish. Lara is an internationally recognized speaker, leading seminars on creativity, innovation and access to capital. She served as the Ambassador to Lebanon for the 1996 Olympic Games. Lara received an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a BS in Aerospace Engineering with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Lara has also served on several Boards.
