When someone in the workplace has been diagnosed with cancer or is dealing with someone close to them as a caregiver, life at work gets hard for everyone. For the person with cancer, there are ways to keep working and be a successful member of the team and Becky will share tips on how to help someone with the day to day issues that come with cancer treatment.
For teammates who have a loved one with cancer, there are resources available to help manage the situation and stay productive at work. There are things employers can do to help facilitate this time in an employees life.
Becky Franks is the Executive Director of the Cancer Support Community and she will talk about how a for-profit business can be involved in the good work of Cancer Support Community of Montana and other nonprofits. She has been the Executive Director since 2006, following her mother’s diagnosis of breast cancer. Becky earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health in 1989 from North Dakota State University and moved to Bozeman in 2003. She has worked in the non-profit sector for 18 years, with an emphasis in Public Health and Health Education, and has a passion to enhance the quality of life for people diagnosed with cancer. Becky is a certified Personal Trainer and is able to use this information to help people get stronger during survivorship. She currently serves as the co-chair of Montana Cancer Coalition.
